Anne S. Rosenthal

Anne S. Rosenthal provides counsel to nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, private foundations, public charities and charitable donors. Ms. Rosenthal specializes in the formation of 501(c)(3) public charities and private foundations, IRS issues relating to tax-exempt organizations such as executive compensation and excess benefits, and the legal dissolution of such organizations.

Prior to joining Hurwit & Associates in 2002, Ms. Rosenthal served in the General Counsel’s office of RECOLL Management Corporation (a subsidiary of Fleet Financial Group), where she handled litigation of loan and real estate workouts and restructures, representing the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in connection with the insolvent Bank of New England, N.A. She has also practiced with the General Trial Department of Burns & Levinson, concentrating in the defense of product liability and other personal injury lawsuits.

Ms. Rosenthal is admitted to the Massachusetts bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She is also active in several community organizations, and has served on the Board of Directors of an educational nonprofit organization.

Ms. Rosenthal received a J.D. degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 1985 and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Sweet Briar College in 1981. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She previously worked for Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana, and in the White House under the Reagan Administration.
