MICHAEL MELFORD

Michael Melford advises and represents businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals worldwide whose work involves the creation and exploitation of intellectual property. Many of his clients are professionals in the fields of public radio and television, music, publishing, film, and the arts. Mr. Melford's areas of focus include copyright and trademark protection and transactions, licensing and royalty agreements, content clearance, contract negotiation, and a wide range of transactions involving creative works. Mr. Melford, whose law firm is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, works in close collaboration with Hurwit & Associates to provide expert and experienced counsel in these areas to our nonprofit clients.

The success of Mr. Melford's firm is due in part to his extensive experience in the legal and business aspects of music composition, performance, recording and production, as well as in advertising and public relations. Melford Law Office was legal counsel for the producer of the feature film Passionada, Sandyo Productions. Other clients include the producers of the nationally-syndicated radio programs Car Talk, Democracy Now!, and This I Believe. He has written music for motion picture soundtracks and produced record albums, winning a Grammy.
