Meet Our New Attorneys

We are delighted to welcome two accomplished and experienced attorneys to our firm. Attorneys Valerie Sussman and Ann Marie Noonan bring a wealth of experience in nonprofit and tax-exempt organization law, philanthropy and charitable giving, and labor and employment law.

Ann Marie focuses her practice on employment, labor, and tax-exempt organization matters. Until earlier this fall, she served as Director of Labor Relations for the City of Boston. Working closely with the Mayor of Boston and supervising a team of attorneys, Ann Marie oversaw the City’s labor strategy and employee relations. At Hurwit & Associates she is responsible for assisting clients on all matters pertaining to the work life of employees, including hiring, grievance proceedings, discipline, manager training, workplace policies, and collective bargaining, as well as providing counsel on board/staff roles and responsibilities, nonprofit governance, Attorney General issues, and regulatory compliance. Ann Marie's full bio.

Valerie Sussman comes to us with substantial experience in counseling nonprofit and philanthropic organizations and individuals through her prior role in the tax-exempt organizations and estate planning group at the firm of Goodwin Procter. She provides tax, corporate, and charitable giving advice to a wide range of charitable organizations, focusing on regulatory compliance, asset transfers, mergers, contracts, grant agreements, formations, and dissolutions. As a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy, Valerie assists donors and philanthropies with charitable gift planning, trust administration, and interpreting and drafting charitable gift instruments. Valerie's full bio.
