Employment and labor attorney Ann Marie Noonan assists clients on all matters pertaining to the work life of employees. Ann Marie advises hospitals, colleges, municipalities, and a wide array of nonprofit organizations, ranging from large institutions to small agencies.

Ann Marie provides counsel on state and federal laws governing medical leave, anti-discrimination statutes, and wage and hour requirements. She has extensive experience representing clients in complex labor negotiations, unfair labor proceedings, and labor arbitrations involving contract interpretation as well as employee discipline and discharge. Ann Marie is skilled at advising clients on the application of collective bargaining agreements, including grievance proceedings, discipline, termination and layoffs. She also has extensive involvement in conducting and overseeing internal investigations.

In addition to guiding employers through difficult employment matters, Ann Marie helps employers develop workplace policies and handbooks, and frequently trains managers and employees on the application of labor laws and compliance with collective bargaining agreements.

She also regularly provides counsel on nonprofit board/staff relationships, responsibilities, and delegation of authority; governance and board structure; relationships with chapters and affiliated organizations; Attorney General issues; conflicts of interest; and formation, mergers, and dissolution.

Ann Marie formerly served as Director of Labor Relations for the City of Boston, where she oversaw the City’s labor strategy and employee relations. Previously she handled complex cases and disputes in the litigation department of Ropes & Gray in Boston. Ann Marie clerked for the Honorable Justice Donald G. Alexander of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

She graduated from Northeastern University, B.S, magna cum laude, majoring in Political Science with a concentration on Law and Legal Issues, and Suffolk University Law School.

Ann Marie is admitted to the Massachusetts bar and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
