Rachel S. Piscette
Attorney Rachel Piscette provides tax-exempt and nonprofit organizations with pragmatic, creative legal advice on structural, compliance, governance, and operational matters. She works with traditional and non-traditional organizational models globally, including private foundations, public charities, fiscal sponsors/sponsored projects, DAFs and re-granters, public agencies, non-hierarchical organizations, and unregistered civil society groups.
Rachel’s expertise spans U.S. exempt organizations tax law, nonprofit compliance, good governance, and legal risk management—with specialized skill in grantmaking and expenditure responsibility. By pairing this legal knowledge with a deep understanding of programmatic strategy and grant design, she delivers grounded guidance that allows clients to focus on driving positive social impact.
Rachel serves as Deputy General Counsel at the Meliore Foundation. Her background also includes work with Idaho Legal Aid Services and the Open Society Foundations.
Rachel earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif, and a B.A., cum laude, from Brandeis University. She is admitted to the Idaho State Bar.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys hiking, birdwatching, and spending time on lakes and rivers with her husband, two young daughters, and Border Collie.
